JustRite Friday Challenge #73

This week's theme at JustRite Friday Challenge is to create any shaped card as long as it's not the traditional square or rectangle shape.  I decided to use this hand shape from the Cricut cartridge Sentimentals because I've been wanting to use it for something... anything really!  LOL!

I had a lot of fun making this... got to use up a lot of things that's been sitting in my stash like the frilly lace I used for the sleeve cuff, tiny silk flowers, and the pearls.  I created the ring by heat embossing a strip of silver as the base of the ring and I cut off a brad to use as the diamond.   The sentiment "Save the Date" is from the Summer Words - Clear collection by JustRite stamps and heat embossed with silver.  The leaves accent is from the Botanical Butterflies - Clear collection also by JustRite stamps and heat embossed with green
  • Card size - fits a 4.25" x 5.5" envelop
  • Papers - DCWV
  • JustRite - stamped sentiment and leaves and heat embossed
  • Sizzix - leafy branches
  • Flowers are silk and stacked in 8 layers
  • Cricut cartridge: Sentimentals - hand and notecard

My Sheri Crafts #86

It's time for a new My Sheri Crafts theme challenge!  For this theme, we are to create any project that represents summer.

I found this theme to be the perfect opportunity to showcase my daughter's "beach finds."  Each time we go on a cruise, she would spend time looking for shells and corals at the beach instead of swimming.  Since we're not really supposed to take anything from the beach, she would only collect a handful of things at a time and would put them in her pocket or bag and sneak them in the ship.

As you can see, she's collected quite a few things.  I suppose it helps that we go on a cruise at least twice a year each year.

I used a plastic jar that used to hold candies in it.   I kept the lid undecorated so no pieces of crafts would come off each time she twists it open and close.   I used a tearing tool for the red base cardstock... I kind of wanted a rustic look but the use of glitter on "treasure" just threw that idea completely off.  Well, it's for my 9-year old so I still wanted to make it cute and fun.  I used some of her smaller shells on the actual label.

I also used 4 eyelets on each side to tie up hemp rope to make it look like the label is only being held on by the rope.  Here's a view from the back

This is how my daughter was storing her "beach finds" and tucked away in her closet completely forgotten

Now, she can show it off outside of her closet and keep them from spilling everywhere

Supplies and Tools used :
  • Papers - DCWV
  • Crop-A-Dile - eyelets
  • Fiskars tearing ruler
  • Sizzix - leafy die cut
  • Xyron - on the "treasure" and covered it with glitter
  • Cricut cartridges:

    • Gypsy Wanderings - "treasure"
    • Stretch Your Imagination - shells

My Sheri Crafts #85

This week at My Sheri Crafts, we are to create a wedding or anniversary project using black, white, and a pop of color.  Come check out what the other Design Team members have created and join us!

I couldn't decide whether to make a wedding or an anniversary card so I just used the word "love" to cover whatever this card eventually will be used for... who knows, if I don't have a wedding or anniversary to send this to, it might end up as a Valentine card!  HAH HAH HAH!

More hand made roses and this time I used a different flower punch to use as the base for leaves.  I'm finding it extremely relaxing making these mini roses... I just listen to an audio book while I work on them.

  • Card size - 5.5" x 4.25"
  • Papers - DCWV
  • Fiskars - flower punch (5 layers for each flower)
  • Cricut cartridges:
    • Home Accents - flourish and "love"
